This re-engraved copy of Mallet’s map is one of several in the possession of J.A.L.Franks that have had the geography reversed while engraving the titles correctly.
It seems surprising that a publisher should go to such expense without checking the result with the original. However it certainly provides an unusual item for a collection of maps of “California as an Island”.
